infusions of color

i started this painting with the entire picture outlined in orange and yellow. that was a bit too much to look at. then i switched to green. but the green got mixed in with the orange, and ended up in a muddy brown color that wasn't bright enough. so i resorted to the safe color, blue. sighhhh. then i tried to use brighter colors, and i think i went a bit overboard with the white paint! hmmm. i feel like with each painting i do in this style, i learn more and more about what works and what could be strengthened. note to self -- use less white, use warmer colors, try outlining a painting in green, etc.

it's funny how i always thought my sneakers were brown. until i was actually painting them, and i realized how they're actually purple.
